Project partners: AEGEE-Chisinau and AEGEE-Iasi in collaboration with Free International University of Moldova.

The project encompasses two goals:

• finding explanations for low democratic behavior in Eastern European youth (focus on Romania and Moldova) and
• developing strategies for encouraging active civil participation among youth.

Within preparatory stage of the project (November – December 2007) was carried out an investigation to define what democracy and terms associated such as active youth participation, civil society and active citizenship in Moldova (non EU country) and Romania (new EU member) is. The investigation was done by AEGEE Antennas working groups (Iasi in Romania and Chisinau in Moldova) under the methodology developed in partnership with lecturer in Psychology of ULIM. Then a two day teamwork in Chisinau (March 1-2, 2008) will enable AEGEE working groups to exchange and compare the results of investigations, to analyze them and with support of invited experts (of international and national level) to develop tools for building and securing active citizenship and democracy within youth of EU and non-EU countries. In a final round table meeting (March 3rd, 2008) the developed ideas will be summarized, shared and discussed with Moldovan youth (students, youth NGOs, and associations) and authorities (Ministry of Youth).
